As the government begin to unlock the potential of onshore wind farms by changing planning to not prohibit approvals with only one objections lodged the sector will exponentially grow in a short space of time.
These projects will be rural, at heights for the wind and close to connection to grid. They present typical problems as they tend to be isolated.
Access is difficult and reinforced structures have to be build as bases in the ground for the columns to be attached to. This work has its fare share of challenges because of the remoteness for plant, labour and materials.
Engineering is a concern as not only have the structures and access for to be strong they have to be durable. Concrete wagons in their droves have to get to each base along with materials drops such as rebar steel and quarried aggregate. Platforms for cranes have to be perfect. Then there is the issue of stresses at work on the columns and propellers when in operation to last the rest of time.
Fallelly is moulded for these operations and is ready for the new industrialised construction sector that will grace the U.K. for over a decade. There are over 300 planning applications pending at present for U.K. onshore wind farms and we will be involved from concept and pre construction with a framework of 4-5 a year. We are currently seeking further business development in this field and would be happy to speak to other parties investing in such operations should they gain planning in 2024.
Cost exercises and viability studies are welcome. Again value engineering opportunities will raise to the surface on any typical project saving hundreds of thousands in over engineering and material wastages.
